Now that all kinds of fruits and veggies are in season, what kind of favorites do you have? Any unexpected surprises? Great new varieties you tried?
I'm happiest with my massive beefsteak tomatoes I think. The bell peppers have been slower, due to the cool spring, but are definitely doing some catching up. I also have a small ripe pumpkin, which grew by accident. Other than that the string beans, pepinos, egyptian onions, Armenian cucumbers and a few other goodies have been helping stock the kitchen. They'll all get repeat plantings next year, along with some additions along the lines of eggplant, parsley, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn and any other seed packets that catch my eye.
