High-climbing, with usually hirsute branchlets: lvs. petioled. broadly oval or ovate, obtuse, the upper connate and abruptly pointed, dark green above, pubescent on both sides when young, 2-4 in. long: fls. in short, mostly peduncled spikes, scentless, bright or orange-yellow, pubescent without, about 1 in. long, with the tube gibbous at the base; ovary and bractlets usually glandular.
