A.liliiflora, Poit.). Much-branched low shrub, 1-3 ft.: branches, lvs. &lt;br /&gt;
and pedicels densely rufously appressed - strigose: lvs. elliptic&lt;br /&gt;
or elliptic - lanceolate, persistent, 1-3 in. long: fls. 1-3; sepals &lt;br /&gt;
lanceolate, serrate - glandular; corolla pure white or rosy purple, 2-3 &lt;br /&gt;
in. broad, fragrant; stamens usually10. May. China. B.R.811. B.M. 2901. &lt;br /&gt;
L. B. C. 13:1253. G. 28:323. Gn. 33, p. 321. G.W. 15, p. 650.— Some &lt;br /&gt;
remarkable varieties of this species are the following: Var. album, &lt;br /&gt;
Rehd. (R. ledifolium var. leucanthum, DC. A. indica var. alba, Lindl. &lt;br /&gt;
R. leucanthum, Bunge). Fls. white, sometimes striped pink. G.C. III. &lt;br /&gt;

ledifolia Noordtiana, Wittm. A. japonica alba grandiflora Van Noordt, &lt;br /&gt;

74. Gt. 59, p. 310. G.W. 15, p. 45. Said to be the hardiest variety of &lt;br /&gt;
this species. Var. purpureum, Maxim. Fls. rosy purple. Var. &lt;br /&gt;
narcissiflorum, Maxim. (A. narcissiflora, Fort.). Fls. double, white, &lt;br /&gt;
rarely purple. F. 1880:89. Var. phoeniceum, DC. (A. punicea, Sweet. A. &lt;br /&gt;
ledifolia var. phoenicea, Hook. A. indica var. calycina, Paxt.). Fls. &lt;br /&gt;
single, purple; calyx with linear, not serrate and less glandular &lt;br /&gt;
lobes. B.M. 3239. L.B.C. 18:1735. J.F. 3:257. Possibly a hybrid of this &lt;br /&gt;
species and R. sub-lanceolatum.— R. ledifolium has produced, with A. &lt;br /&gt;
indica, a large number of beautiful hybrids, of which one of the first &lt;br /&gt;
was figured in 1833 as R. pulchrum. &lt;br /&gt;
