Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture

Saguerus (East Indian name). Palmaceae. An older name for Arenga, but discarded by the "nomina rejicienda" of the Vienna rules. Arenga mindorensis, Becc. (Saguerus mindorensis, O. F. Cook), has recently been intro. by the U. S. Dept. Agric. from the Philippines. It is described as a palm 5-10 ft. high, and probably of decided ornamental value for greenhouses and probably also in S. Calif, and S. Fla. Yet little known in this country.
