Shrub or small tree, to 20 ft.: lvs. cuneate, elliptic-ovate, acuminate, dark green above, glaucous and appressed-pubescent beneath, 2-4 in. long: involucre creamy white, 2½-3 in. wide; bracts ovate, acute: frs. forming a globular head.
