Gentiana olivieri, Griseb. (G. dahurica, Fisch., which is probably the oldest name). Fls. dark blue, in umbel-like cymes; corolla narrowly obconical; plaits triangular, nearly entire. June-Aug. Mountain pastures, Asia.—By recent authority referred to G. decumbens, but differing from that species only in having equal calyx-lobes. Cult, like G. lutea.—Useful in the rockery, but will not grow well in the hot dry summer of E. U. S. CH The above text is from the Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture.
