Iris florentina, Linn. Rhizome fragrant when dried (orris-root): lvs. 11 ½ ft. long: st. exceeding the lvs.: fls. white; outer segms. 3 ½ in. long, tinged with lavender; claw yellowish veined with purple; inner segms. as large, white. Cent, and S. Eu. —Flowers early, with I. germanica. Hardy. var. albicans, Lange (I. albicans, Lange. I. florentina var. alba, Hort.). Pure white. Spain to Cyprus. var. madonna, Hort. Fls. blue; spathe-valves flushed with purple.
