Pachycereus marginatus, Brit. & Rose (Cereus marginatus, DC. C. gemmatus, Zucc.). Simple or branching at apex, 2-3 in. diam., with 5-6 obtuse ribs, which are woolly their whole length: spines short-conical, rigid, 7-9, all nearly alike: fls. brownish purple, about 1 1/2 in. long: fr. globular and spiny. Mex.—Frequently used for hedges in S. Mex. The st. is often covered with a woody crust. CH
